Tony Burriss is currently Mayor of the City of Trenton, Tennessee. He retired from Education after serving 30 years as a Band Director in Decatur County, the Gibson County Special School District, and the Trenton Special School District. Mayor Burriss has served as President of the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association and on the board of the Tennessee Music Educators Association.

He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Trenton where he is an Elder and Choir Director. He has also sat on the Board of Directors of the West Tennessee Emmaus Community. He is married to Kathi Burriss, who is employed by the State of Tennessee as an Auditor III and has two children, Ryan and Emily. He and Kathi also have four grandchildren, Kizer, Katibeth, Andrew, and Kannon.

Tony is concerned with the lack of good employment opportunities for the people of West Tennessee. The western part of the state will need to be aggressive in the future in recruiting industrial and retail opportunities that will spring up as a reaction to the big car manufacturers who are settling in the states surrounding Tennessee. His hope is to be able to secure job opportunities for the Trenton and Gibson County area.
